About Our Conductor / Director

Dinarte Ferro, Conductor of the Warwich Symphony Orchestra Dinarte Ferro received his Master of Arts degree in Teaching and Bachelor's degree in Music Performance from Rhode Island College. As an undergraduate, he was the recipient of a four-year Music Talent Scholarship and awarded the coveted Rita V. Bicho Memorial Scholarship. He performed in many college ensembles including the symphony orchestra, symphonic band, theatre and jazz ensembles, and various chamber groups. As a graduate student he received an Alumni Graduate Scholarship. The Rhode Island College Alumni Association has also recognized him with an Alumni Honor Roll Award in the field of music. Recently, the American Band of Providence awarded him the Francis M. Marciniak Memorial Scholarship.

Director of the Warwick Symphony Orchestra since 1990, Mr. Ferro has conducted performances at "First Night" festivities in Providence, Mystic and Westerly. In addition, the orchestra has performed for the Warwick Mayoral inaugurations and "Winterfest" celebrations sponsored by the city of Warwick. The orchestra has performed with various choirs including the West Bay Chorale, the St. Agatha Choir of Woonsocket and the St. Timothy-St. Rita combined choirs of Warwick. The orchestra appeared with the Joe Parillo Ensemble at the Greenwich Odeum. It was also featured in a television production on WSBE-Channel 36.

Since 1998, Mr. Ferro has served as orchestra conductor for Fantasy Works Youth Theatre where he has conducted many of the main stage programs. This past season, he has conducted performances of The Wizard of Oz, Anything Goes and Peter Pan. He has also served as a guest conductor for the Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Repertory Orchestra.

Along with his conducting achievements, Mr. Ferro has arranged and composed works that have been performed by the American Band of Providence, the Rhode Island Wind Ensemble and the Warwick Symphony Orchestra.

Mr. Ferro teaches elementary instrumental music for the Warwick Public Schools and is a private clarinet instructor. He also performs as a clarinetist with the Rhode Island Wind Orchestra.
